Botox in a Jar?

Botox in a Jar?

Easing the wrinkles in our face, particularly crow’s feet, smile lines or forehead lines, is something that many of us are looking for. So we try injectable neuromodulators, like Botox, at the local cosmetic surgeon’s office or medi-spa. Although this is a well-known, well researched way to temporarily decrease fine lines and wrinkles, the time, travel and most importantly, the cost, may make it prohibitive to do on a regular basis. These injectable solutions can take days to weeks to produce results, wear off in 3 to 6 months and costs hundreds of dollars (typically between $250 and $1000), depending on the size of the area you want to treat and how your skin reacts to the solution.

So what’s a woman to do?

Wrinkles are caused by muscle contractions occurring in the same places over time.  Should we stop laughing? Smiling? Living? That’s a resounding NO. Barely Blush has two great products that produce similar effects to Botox without the injections and without the cost! But how do they work?

The secret is a scientifically-proven peptide called Argireline, a weightless, quick-absorbing ingredient that smooths fine lines by helping prevent muscle contractions that cause facial wrinkles. Although it is nicknamed “Botox in a jar,” Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-3 or acetyl hexapeptide-8) is not a toxin. It’s a natural, plant-derived compound. So, for this reason, this peptide has very few side effects even if it offers nearly the same results as that of injectable toxic peptides.

It does, however, act similar to Botox in how it works. It freezes nerve-to-muscle potential; the chain of peptides that make up the compound limits the ability of neurotransmitters to activate movement in your facial muscles (a process known as exocytosis). By inhibiting the nerves that send signals to facial muscles, subtle facial expressions are limited, and wrinkles are subsequently reduced. Dr. Jeffrey Fromowitz, a dermatologist from Boca Raton, FL reports “These complexes interact with the muscles responsible for facial expression and can inhibit their movement…improving wrinkles.

Independent Review

When Swol Headquarters, an independent product review website, put Argireline to the test, their experts confirmed the effectiveness of the peptide chain but questioned its ability to deliver consistent results. Further studies show that it’s more effective the older you are, and in particular, the thinner your skin is. So these products aren’t as effective for 20 year olds and as are for those of us in our 40s and 50s! What they also found was that, when applied regularly, Argireline relaxes the muscles around fine lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet and forehead furrows. Swol Headquarters found that in some cases, Argireline reduces wrinkles by up to 30% after 30 days of application. In fact, in a research study, volunteers showed a 17% reduction in wrinkle depth after 15 days of use!

This wonder peptide works to smooth fine lines by targeting facial muscles and preventing contractions. Argireline is your best defense against fine lines and wrinkles, and it can be found in two of our products: Bio-Peptide Growth Factor Serum and our ATX Double Action Cream.
