Oh how we wish our skin still looked like it did when we were 20! It’s true, as we age, the needs of our skin change and become more complicated. In a perfect world, we have all been incorporating these recommendations into our skincare regimen since we were in our 20s, but let’s be real. Life happened. College days didn’t leave much money for high end skin care, and then, kids came into the picture and we were more concerned about their skin than our own!
Thankfully, it’s never too late to start great habits to help your skin be its radiant and healthy best. Although we’ll need to provide a little more TLC than before, these are steps we can all easily incorporate into our daily/weekly lives. The best part of this list? Use the right cleanser for your skin type.
Healthy skin is clean skin, so a facial cleanser is a no brainer, but make sure you’re using a facial cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. Foaming cleansers, such as our AHA Foaming Cleanser, will remove makeup, dirt and oil beneath the surface. Dry skin? Go for an oil-based cleanser such as our Pure Cleansing Gel, with the key ingredient, rosehip oil. The warm, moist air of a steam room will help open pores up, purging dirt and oil while allowing for the products that follow the steam to absorb more completely.
Start your day with a daytime serum with antioxidants.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Day and night, it’s always a good time to moisturize. After age 40, the oil production in our skin tends to slow down, so we need to help it along by replenishing the moisture from the outside in. Be sure to wait about 5 minutes after your serum dries, and then thoroughly apply a healthy amount of hydrating moisturizer to your skin. Skip processed foods and sugar as much as possible.

Reach for eats rich in probiotics.
So if bad choices drive your complexion crazy, great choices will leave it radiant. Seek out foods rich in not only antioxidants, but also probiotics, those naturally occurring, good-for-your-gut bacteria that help strengthen your immune system.
Slather on the SPF.

Eye cream is a MUST.
If you’re not already using an eye cream, 40 is the time to start. The skin around our eyes is much thinner than the rest of our face and thus more gentle, requiring a different mix of ingredients than the skin on the rest of your face does. Treat age spots with a skin lightener.
Age spots, also known as hyperpigmentation, may be inevitable if you’re not hypervigilant about sunscreen.
